The Kodiak Solutions Revenue Cycle Performance Awards

Kodiak Solutions established the Revenue Cycle Performance Awards in 2021 to recognize excellence in revenue cycle management and performance by hospital, health system, and medical practice users of the Kodiak Revenue Cycle Analytics (RCA) platform. RCA aggregates millions of transactions from more than 1,900 hospitals and over 250,000 physicians.

The person behind the performance: Troy Spring

Troy Spring is Vice President, Enterprise Revenue Cycle, at Intermountain Health, the health system based in Salt Lake City. Spring oversees revenue cycle at Intermountain, which includes the Peaks Region based in Broomfield, Colorado. Kodiak Solutions recognized Intermountain Health—Peaks Region with its 2023 Revenue Cycle Performance Award, presented at Kodiak’s 2024 Healthcare Virtual Symposium.

The person behind the performance: Katie LeBlanc

Katie LeBlanc is vice president, revenue cycle, at Banner Health, a health system based in Phoenix, Arizona. Kodiak Solutions recognized Banner Health with its 2023 Revenue Cycle Performance Award, presented at Kodiak’s 2024 Healthcare Virtual Symposium.

The person behind the performance: Joanna Caballero

Joanna Caballero is corporate vice president, revenue cycle, at Scripps Health, a health system based in San Diego, California. Kodiak Solutions recognized Scripps Health with its 2023 Revenue Cycle Performance Award, presented at Kodiak’s 2024 Healthcare Virtual Symposium.

Sandy Lood is vice president, revenue cycle, at Cottage Health, a health system based in Santa Barbara, California. Kodiak Solutions recognized Cottage Health with its 2023 Revenue Cycle Performance Award, presented at Kodiak’s 2024 Healthcare Virtual Symposium.

Kodiak recognizes users in two categories:

  • Top Performing Revenue Cycle

  • Most Improved Revenue Cycle

Kodiak chooses award recipients objectively based on data-driven revenue cycle KPIs, including:

  • Bad debt as a percentage of gross patient service revenue

  • Credit days

  • DNFB (discharged not final billed) days

  • Initial denial rate

  • Insurance payment gap denied vs. non-denied

  • Late charges as a percentage of gross patient service revenue

  • Point of service cash collections

  • Six-month lagged cash to net revenue

  • Self-pay after insurance patient collection rates

  • True A/R (accounts receivable) greater than 90 days

  • True A/R days

Kodiak scores organizations using Kodiak’s Revenue Cycle Index Score, which weighs each revenue cycle KPI to create a score indicative of overall revenue cycle performance within the past 12 months.
