Summit Terrain 2025 sessions and presentations
Summit Terrain 2025 featured 22 sessions and presentations on two tracks over 1 ½ days. We designed the first track, RCA Foundations, for new RCA users. We designed the second track, RCA Next, for current RCA users who are migrating to RCA Next, the cloud-based next generation of RCA.
Each track featured 11 hands-on sessions that let attendees use RCA and RCA Next in a live environment with one or more of 19 Kodiak RCA specialists on-site guiding each session. Each of the 22 sessions listed below reveals one nugget of insight attendees took away from that session.
RCA Foundations
Track 1
Session 1: Introduction to RCA
RCA’s monthly lifecycle begins with file loads and ends with actionable analytics.

Session 2: RCA lifecycle
RCA’s monthly lifecycle has four phases: prepare, process, close, and review.

Session 3: RCA preparation
The two key components of the first phase of RCA’s monthly lifecycle are file loads and mapping.

Session 4: RCA process
Accuracy and logic in this second phase of RCA’s monthly lifecycle are what drive reliable outcomes.

Session 5: RCA pre-close
Before the close comes the pre-close, which has four key components: maintenance, calculation, configuration, and adjustments.

Session 6: RCA recast
RCA’s recast, or “what if” capability, calculates the impact of reserve changes before a monthly close while keeping historical data intact.

Session 7: Balance sheet overview
Reserve rates affect net accounts receivable and revenue projections as they help estimate how much money providers actually will collect.

Session 8: RCA review
Early detection and resolution of data issues, e.g., accuracy, completeness, discrepancies, quality, and readiness, saves time and improves outcomes.

Session 9: RCA close
Before final close, users should make final checks of their file loads, mapping reconciliation, and reserve setting to confirm that their foundational data is accurate.

Session 10: RCA review
The three drivers of current period net revenue changes are collection rates, payor mix, and patient volume.

Session 11: RCA from prep to close
Mastering RCA tools gives users financial accuracy, audit readiness, and strategic insight.

RCA Next
Track 2
Session 1: Introduction to RCA Next
Kodiak built RCA Next because the existing RCA tech stack could not handle all the feature requests from current RCA users.

Session 2: Master class 1: 30-minute interactive problem resolution
RCA Next performs a day roll-forward calculation where all the activity foots to the end balance. If the formula is out of balance, the system will calculate an RCA Next-generated transaction.

Session 3: Month-end close—side by side
RCA Next applies recurring out-of-model adjustments automatically using rule-based logic, improving accuracy and consistency.

Session 4: Master class 2: 30-minute interactive problem resolution
Variance (Kodiak-VAR) is an RCA Next-generated transaction that keeps the account in balance. RCA Next posts a Kodiak-VAR when a charge or transaction posting doesn’t support an active A/R balance.

Session 5: Net revenue reporting—side by side
The most frequently discussed topics during the month-end close process include operational drivers of net revenue, changes in prior-period adjustments, current month net revenue, and changes in accounts receivable.

Session 6: Master class 3: 30-minute interactive problem resolution
RCA Next calculates zero-balance account rates at different payor groupings, creating a pyramid-like structure from most to least granular.

Session 7: Reporting and ad-hoc report: Intro to Sigma and embedded reporting
Ad hoc reporting offers flexibility for custom, on-demand analysis for business analysts and power users, while curated dashboards deliver standardized, governed insights for consistent decision-making for general users and senior executives.

Session 8: RCA Next implementation planning
Kodiak will migrate 36 months of historical net revenue data to RCA Next to support trending, audit, and month-over-month comparisons.

Session 9: Hands on with RCA Next
Session attendees explored key RCA Next workflows such as navigation and administration, pricing and realization, month-end close, and production and test scenarios.

Session 10: Master class 4: 30-minute interactive problem resolution
RCA Next ensures every patient account has an appropriate contractual estimate.

Session 11: RCA Next feedback session
Session attendees evaluated current RCA Next features by sharing personal experiences and identifying areas of success and opportunities for improvement. They proposed actionable suggestions for future enhancements to RCA Next based on user insights and group discussion.
